Choosing A Typeface For Your Brand

Benjamin Henry Website design flatlay

Choosing a typeface or font for your business and website is an important decision, the one you choose will have a big impact on the look and feel of your business!

The font you choose should reflect your brand identity, if you have a modern and playful brand, a sans-serif font may work for you. But if your brand is more traditional and elegant, a serif font may fit the brand more. You should also consider your audience, a more modern font may appeal to a younger audience, whereas a more traditional font may appeal to an older audience.

You should also consider the readability of the font. If you’re wanting to use it for paragraphs of text on your website, we’d recommend something that is easy to read. Avoid choosing anything too small, too stylised or too thin.

When we are designing your website:

We normally select a couple of fonts that complement each other when designing your website, this helps to create a bit of contrast and visual interest. We avoid using too many different fonts as it can end up looking cluttered and unprofessional.

We also like to use different weights and sizes of the same typeface, this creates hierarchy and shows what is a main headline, and what is body text.

Lastly, before your site goes live, we like to test your website on different screen sizes and browsers. This means we can check all typefaces are readable and check they are accessible to all users.
